I watched some Youtube videos that say cheap oil pastels are going to operate more like crayons than the oil paint they're meant to resemble. Oops... I tried them anyway.
Youtube land was correct. The colors smeared instead of sticking and the waxy nature created a blotchy and unpredictable medium.
Still, it brought me joy.
To summarize: my ideal outcome is not a requirement to call something worthwhile.
I made art. I will again, make art tomorrow because I've committed to creating every day. It won't hang on my wall. I will likely discard it.
And yet, I sat down and created and it FELT GOOD.
I don't have to display it. I don't have to love it to love doing it. I'll take what I learned and get better supplies to try again.
